Brands Hatch Race Day

On the 30th July, some 90 beneficiaries from 24 Service organisations – including Help for Heroes, Blesma, King Edward VII’s Hospital Pain Clinic, Blind Veterans UK and many more – were given the opportunity to be driven around the world-famous Brands Hatch race track, in a selection of super cars and race cars.

‘This is the best thing I have ever done in the Corps!’

The event began with a dinner at the Mercure Hotel, where everyone was given the opportunity to meet one another in a relaxed setting. This ensured that once in the pitts the next morning, the banter, laughter and smiles were flying around the group faster than the cars hurtling around the track. One beneficiary mentioned that, “if you could bottle all the smiles around here today, you’d be a millionaire.” Another individual, who is undergoing an intense programme of rehabilitation, mentioned that the break from his normal routine had provided a vital psychological boost. “Days like this are an important escape from the pressures of the daily slog. They help you to remain positive.”

The Not Forgotten would like to extend their sincere thanks to the day’s amazing volunteers and our generous sponsors – Martin, Gary and Richard.
