OAPA are an incredible charity who help those who have struggled with homelessness, or those who are ex-prison and those who have served to find comfortable and supportive employment in the hospitality industry.

Blind Baking with Penny Melville-Brown

Blind veteran Penny Melville-Brown OBE is a keen baker who makes the most delicious treats. She is a force to be reckoned with in the kitchen, and proves to us all every week that nothing can stop you if you work hard enough.

“You don’t have to be blind to cook but it helps; extra sounds and smells, touch and tastes! Our ways of cooking may be different – because of where we live, what we can grow or what we can buy – having a disability doesn’t really matter. Food is the true universal language that breaks down barriers and brings us all together – no matter who, where or what we are.” – Penny
