We are pleased to announce that from the first week in April, shoppers in select Tesco stores across the country will be able to vote for The Not Forgotten as part of the Tesco Community Grants Scheme. Shoppers will be able to vote until the 30th of June, with the winning organisation being awarded £1,500. Second place will receive £1,000 and third place will receive £500. The scheme is held regionally, which gives The Not Forgotten seven opportunities to win, and means we could be awarded up to £10,500. That is a huge amount of money, and could help to improve the lives of those who need us.
The money awarded through this scheme will allow us to continue providing respite breaks for veterans and their families in 2022. Our respite breaks are a fundamental service that we provide, allowing our beneficiaries the chance to breathe, relax, recharge and rediscover themselves. For many years now, we have offered activity breaks in places such as Aschombe, where guests can take part in activities such as quad biking, archery and valuable time with others who understand what it can really be like to be a veteran. We also provide overnight stays at the Union Jack Club in London, providing a perfect opportunity for a break, which this money will help to fund.
The list of participating stores are outlined below:
Fleet Ancells Farm
Farnborough Cov Road
Ridgeway Rd Farnham
Ashvale Lysons Av
Notting Hill Gate
Lincoln St Marks
Lincoln Newark Rd
Lincoln High St
To vote, simply collect a counter at the checkout, and head to the voting boxes to drop your counter into The Not Forgotten box.
It is because of schemes like this that we are able to continue providing support to those who are sick, injured and wounded. For 102 years we have been serving the veteran community by providing relief and cheer where we can, and we can’t thank you, our supporters, enough for continuing to do what you can for us.
