It was a long-awaited day. Months of planning, two years of cancellations and a small team of nine. But, in May of 2022 we finally got to walk through the Palace gates once more and host 3,000 veterans and their plus ones as the annual The Not Forgotten Garden Party at Buckingham Palace returned. This unique occasion gave the chance to meet friends, new and old, to share some banter, revel in the camaraderie and feel valued.
To see friends reunited, and to witness smiles of pride, and even a proposal, it was certainly one to remember. And with the sun shining, what more can we ask for?
HRH The Princess Royal and Vice-Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence welcomed us with warmth, and took the time to meet, and talk with veterans from all Forces and backgrounds.
Having a party, being made to feel special in the company of likeminded individuals does so much to lift one’s spirits which all helps to restore dignity and independence. As a consequence the individual, their family and community all benefit. We are only a small part of the military charity environment but working with others, we make a difference and together we provide the solution.
“I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the greatest day that myself and my wife had with you at the Garden Party. In that short space of time I forgot all my troubles and experienced peace in myself. I hope that I can experience this with you again in the future.“
