1 Million Minutes

Can You Help Us Find The Forgotten?

Welcome to The Not Forgotten! We are an Armed Forces charity, which has been serving wounded, injured, and sick veterans for 100 years, and we are delighted to be a part of the 1 Million Minutes campaign from Good Morning Britain.

We combat loneliness and isolation by offering social activities, entertainment, respite breaks, and challenge holidays to serving personnel and veterans of all ages and abilities.

These opportunities can bring life-changing results for veterans. You can read some of their stories here, and look through our photos and videos.

"I had let myself get into a deep depression and become isolated... but that first trip with The Not Forgotten was the start of things changing." - Carl Harvey | Royal Air Force

How you can help

The pandemic has drastically worsened loneliness and isolation in the Armed Forces community.

It has also made it harder than ever to reach out to local communities and find the people who need our support the most.

We need your help to spread the word about what we do and make sure that no veteran is left feeling isolated and alone.

Your Challenges

We have a list of awareness-raising challenges for you, which can be done from home, or in your local community, and all in 60 minutes or less!

Online

Share our FINDING THE FORGOTTEN posts – We have released some social media posts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn, which raise awareness about what we do.

Share these posts with your friends and families, and encourage others to do the same. You’ll be surprised at how many veterans will be friends of friends!

Spread the word in online community groups

Lots of towns and villages have their own community groups on Facebook, which help residents to keep informed with what’s going on in their area.

If you’re not a member of one already, you can join your local group and share our Facebook post there as well to spread the word even further! (We only advise posting once, and checking if there’s a post about us in there already before sharing).

In Your Community

Share our posters around your local area

We have made some simple posters which talk a little bit about what we do and what we offer.

Print off the poster from home and bring it to the noticeboard of your local community centre, doctor’s surgery, church, post office, or any other local hub you can think of!

As you share the poster, take a picture of yourself with it, and send it to eddie@thenotforgotten.org, message us, or tag us in a social media post so we can keep on spreading the word!

Where can I sign up for your support?

It is really easy to register with us, just head over to the Getting Our Help page.

The Not Forgotten is not a membership organisation and we are open to all eligible beneficiaries. We also work closely with other military charities and refer where appropriate.

Can I register someone else for your support?

Due to data regulations, you cannot complete our General Information Form on someone else’s behalf, unless they are in the room with you and have given you their explicit consent.

How does it work?

When you submit a form, it is immediately delivered to a member of our team and your details are added to our database.

Once we have confirmed your eligibility, our Events Team do their very best to invite you to an event that you are interested in, or one in your local area, but please be aware that many of our events are planned months in advance so an invitation may not be forthcoming straight away.

We are completely focused on providing the right opportunities to those who need them most. We are a small staff helping over 10,000 individuals a year and we do our best to include everyone in our activities as everybody is important to us.
