The Not Forgotten is delighted to announce the appointment of Peter Hewitt, Co-Chair of Universal Defence and Security Solutions, as Ambassador for the charity.
The appointment was marked on Tuesday 19th May 2026 at The Not Forgotten’s annual Buckingham Palace Garden Party, hosted by the charity’s Patron, Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal.
For more than a century, The Not Forgotten has supported serving personnel and veterans living with injury, illness and isolation. Through events, entertainment, respite, challenge activities and social opportunities, the charity brings people together, helping members of the Armed Forces community feel connected, valued and remembered.
Peter’s appointment as Ambassador reflects his long-standing commitment to the Armed Forces community and his belief in the importance of practical, personal support for those who have served.
Peter is a highly experienced business leader and public servant with over forty years’ experience at chair and board level, including founding and leading an AIM‑quoted company. A former Alderman of the City of London, he has chaired major social investment initiatives and supported the stewardship of significant public assets. Appointed an Honorary Group Captain in the Royal Auxiliary Air Force, he sits on various RAF command boards and serves as an Ambassador for the Royal Air Force. Widely recognised for his charitable and pro bono service, he brings integrity, judgement and a lifelong commitment to public good in his new role for The Not Forgotten.
Peter joins The Not Forgotten at a time when the charity continues to expand its reach and impact across the UK, delivering meaningful experiences for thousands of beneficiaries each year.
He will be integral to the charity building new networks and relationships that underpin its vision of maintaining a resilient and sustainable organisation through turbulent times.
Richard Walker OBE, Chief Executive of The Not Forgotten, welcomed the appointment, saying:
“We are delighted to welcome Peter Hewitt as Ambassador for The Not Forgotten. Peter understands the enduring importance of service, fellowship and connection, and we are extremely grateful for his support as we continue our work with veterans and serving personnel across the UK.”
Peter Hewitt said:
“It is a great honour to become an Ambassador for The Not Forgotten. The charity’s work is both simple and deeply powerful: it reminds those who have served that they are seen, valued and never forgotten. I am proud to support Richard and the team as they continue this remarkable work.”

The annual Garden Party remains one of the charity’s most significant events, bringing together beneficiaries from across the Armed Forces community in the historic surroundings of Buckingham Palace.
Peter’s appointment will help The Not Forgotten continue to raise awareness of its mission, strengthen relationships with supporters and partners, and champion the charity’s work with those who have given so much in service of others.
