Each year on the last Saturday of June, the nation celebrates Armed Forces Day to show our support for our Service personnel and veterans. The culmination of a week of events, this day of celebration provides a much valued morale boost for the troops and their families.
Coronavirus may have led to the cancellation of many outdoors Armed Forces Week celebrations, but there are lots of ways to show your support for our Service personnel and veterans from home. We’ve collected together some of the events and activities available online to help you get involved and Salute Our Forces.
JOIN IN WITH SCARBOROUGH’S VIRTUAL ARMED FORCES
The National Armed Forces Day celebrations were due to take place in Scarborough this year and Scarborough Council have been working their socks off to move the celebration online. Head to the Scarborough Armed Forces Day website from Monday 22 June to see them shine a spotlight on local and national military veterans, and serving personnel, honouring their unstinting commitment, service and sacrifice. There are also lots of themed children’s activities and competitions that the whole family can get stuck into!
TUNE INTO THE ARMCHAIR AIRSHOW ON

Aerobility have organised The Armchair Airshow which will allow you to experience for you to experience displays from the Red Arrows, NASA, Typhoons, Red Bull Matadors, The Blades and so many more, all from the comfort of your home – watch the trailer below or head to their website to learn more about the schedule!

You can show your support for our Armed Forces by taking a photo of yourself for the #SaluteOurForces photo album. To join in, simply send Armed Forces Day a photo or video of yourself or your friends and colleagues saluting! You can submit photos here but don’t forget to tag us too!

WEAR YOUR UNIFORM TO WORK FOR RESERVES DAY
Calling all reservists – on Wednesday 24 June why not celebrate Reserves Day by wearing your uniform at home or to ‘work’. Take a selfie of you in your workplace or ‘home office’ and pop it on social media with the hashtag #SaluteOurForces.
TAKE PART IN THE FIRST SSAFA AND DRM ARMED FORCES DAY QUIZ!
Defence Relationship Management is joining forces with SSAFA to deliver their first ever virtual Armed Forces Week Quiz! At 4:30pm on 25 June they are calling on our Armed Forces Covenant community to get involved – it’s free to take part and all you have to do is register on the SSAFA website.
