COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update

Coronavirus (COVID-19) is the news on everybody’s minds at the moment, but be assured The Not Forgotten is taking all the necessary precautions to keep our beneficiaries and staff safe.

We are continually monitoring Government, NHS and Public Health England (PHE) advice – which is detailed below – but in the meantime, our events and activity programme will be going ahead as planned with all necessary precautions in place. These include:

  • Providing advice to beneficiaries due to attend events on how to avoid the spread of Coronavirus (please see below).
  • Asking beneficiaries who feel unwell or have been in recent contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 not to attend our events. Anybody who finds themselves in this position should contact the office on 020 7730 2400 and we will do our best to find a future event for you to attend.
  • Providing those who attend our activity and respite holidays with a personal bottle of hand sanitiser.
  • Ensuring that suitable hand-washing facilities or hand-sanitising stations are available to all those who attend our day outings and activities.

This is a changing situation and we will issue any updates on our website and contact any individuals attending one of our events directly if required. Please keep an eye on our website for any changes.

Current NHS guidelines on how to prevent the spread of Coronavirus and how protect yourself and those around you from infection are to:

  • Wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available.
  • Always wash your hands when you get home, into work or after using public transport.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze. Put used tissues in the bin straight away and wash your hands afterwards.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.

It is also recommended that you:

  • Try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell
  • Stay at home if you feel unwell, notifying your employer through the normal procedures
  • Follow Government advice when traveling overseas

What should I do if I think I might have symptoms of coronavirus?

  • If you have symptoms that could be caused by coronavirus, such as a fever, cough and shortness of breath, call 111. They may advise you to self-isolate. You may need to ask a friend or family member to help with chores or do shopping.
