Bradenham Manor

Surrounded by the rolling Chiltern Hills, Brandenham Manor in Buckinghamshire is a peaceful retreat from the hustle-and-bustle of life. Formerly the home of the British aristocracy, and once playing host to Queen Elizabeth I, the house is impressive to say the least.

With such an illustrious history, it only seems fitting that The Not Forgotten – with huge thanks to Grant Thornton, Philip Roschet and all the staff – should take 41 beneficiaries to Bradenham Manor for a weekend of fun, games and some relaxation. Harking from 13 different military associations, the oldest beneficiary on the trip was 86 and the youngest was 29.

Having become acquainted with each other at a barbecue and quiz on the Friday evening, competitive spirits were running high on the Saturday as the group, split into smaller teams across age groups and service backgrounds, went head-to-head in egg and spoon races, human horse races, quoits, mini golf, skittles and croquet. An evening packed full of mess-type games then had everyone smiling and laughing over dinner.

Despite the changeable weather, everybody had a brilliant time and we think the photos speak for themselves! It’s safe to say that a few competitive streaks were out in force too…

Rosie would like to make a special mention to Johnnie and Carrie for their help over the weekend, but also thank Grant Thornton UK and representative Phil for enabling the holiday to go ahead.
